Aluminium Salt Slag Cooling Press Is Equipped With The Latest Technology Advancements

A high-pressure hydraulic system combined with specially designed press head and pan relationships allow for up to 2.5T to be effectively processed in one cycle. From this, cooling times are significantly reduced, pan procurement costs decrease, and significant aluminium recoveries can be achieved.

Hot slag is tapped from the rotary furnace into special alloy, cast steel slag bins. The full slag bin is sent directly to the ALTEK TARDIS Gen III Press where the automatic cycle will begin. After the cycle has finished, the pan set is left to cool for as little as 5 hours before tipping. The pressed salt slag skulls can be stacked easily and neatly, and the metal plating around the slag skulls can be pneumatically picked off and returned to the melting furnaces for re-melting.

The salt slag cooling press head pan relationship creates a tight seal during the press cycle to eliminate oxidisation and fumes, and reduce forming of nitrides. A higher pressure system compacts large quantities of rotary slag to further aid the cooling process whilst improving the amalgamation of aluminium particles. A fully automatic system allows for operational ease and quick cycle times to further improve casthouse efficiency.

ALTEK has developed a specialised salt slag press to extract as much aluminium out of slag as possible. Salt differs from aluminium dross due to it having lower aluminium content and a higher temperature when taken out of the furnace. ALTEK´s slag press is designed and programmed to match those needs to maximise aluminium extraction and increase the aluminium recovery.
