Salt slag bins supplied are specifically designed to cope with the extreme heat generated from Secondary Remelt Tilt Rotary Furnace and can be used in a variety of dross press models and alternatively as a standalone salt slag cooling process.

Salt slag bins are typically high capacity RHINO-CAST steel bins, with no drain holes, that are robust and perfect for the high temperature application of holding large amount of salt slag or rotary slag material. The internal structure of the pans have cooling ribs, which correspond to the press head model (found in our salt slag press machines), which when pressed create a ‘chocolate-block’ shape to allow for easier breaking of the large salt slag blocks into smaller, more manageable pieces.

The heavy duty design and cooling ribs act as an excellent heat sink to cool the salt slag or rotary slag material quicker than simple fabricated bins. Furthermore the cast steel alloy and thickness ensure that the bins maintain their shape and do not bend and buckle quickly under the thermal and mechanical stresses seen on a day to day basis.

Products include single or multi-chamber skim pan sets, ingot moulds, press heads, sow moulds along with salt cake and dross containers. ALTEK’s proprietary RHINO-CAST® steel alloy has been specifically developed to withstand the severe casthouse environment and is designed to endure both mechanical and thermal shock. Compared with fabricated or cast-iron pans, ALTEK’s material is more durable, less likely to crack/break and retain their shape for many years resulting in lower procurement costs over time.
